Australia’s Devastating Fires
Our country is burning 🖤 ⠀⠀⠀
We are so saddened and our hearts are hurting for those who have been effected.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
On Saturday 4th January, thousands of people across Australia were preparing for one of the worst days of our scorching summer and fire season so far.. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here is an update:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🔥It is estimated up to half a million animals have been killed.
🔥800+ homes have been lost.
🔥There are currently so many people without a safe place.
🔥Our firefighters have been working tirelessly for months now, and their work continues on.. for us and for our safety..
🔥Many people have lost their lives or are missing..
🔥Towns and communities have been evacuated or are currently evacuating..
🔥Temperatures are set to soar into the high 40’s (Degrees Celsius)
🔥We have lost around 5 million hectares of land to the flames.
🔥There are hundreds of individual bushfires burning across the country, many of these are out of control with threats of embers spreading in the winds and starting new blazes. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you can do anything to help and are in a position to, please do. ⠀⠀
You can donate money to these organisations who are working hard to help both our communities and our wildlife:
@nswrfs @wireswildliferescue @redcrossau
Please take care during this time, check on your friends, family, neighbours, strangers.
Offer water, clothing, blankets and supplies. Leave water out for birds and other wildlife. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
