DIY Natural Beauty At Home

The salon may be closed right now, but the spa treatments don’t have to stop.

We have a few beauty hacks up our sleeves that we know you will love!

All of these recipes contain natural ingredients with skin loving benefits.

FACE MASKS:

AVO + GRAPE SEED OIL - smash half an avocado and mix in a few drops of skin grade grape seed oil and mix until you have a creamy consistency. Apply to your face and neck too if you wish, leave for 15 minutes. The natural fatty acids from the avocado and grape seed oil will aid in hydration.

MYLK, HONEY & OAT - to a bowl, add a tablespoon of Manuka honey and a tablespoon of crushed rolled oats. Add in a teaspoon or two of nut milk of your choice. (We recommend coconut for the creaminess)

Apply evenly to your face and leave for 15-20 minutes. The Manuka honey has a soothing and antibacterial effect. The oats can help to alleviate redness and acne.

GOLDEN TURMERIC - mix a tablespoon of Manuka honey with half a teaspoon of grape seed oil and a teaspoon of ground turmeric. Apply evenly to your face and leave for up to 20 minutes. Turmeric is great at brightening your skin and has amazing anti inflammatory benefits.

CHARCOAL CLAY MASK - mix a tablespoon of water with a teaspoon of both activated charcoal and bentonite clay in a bowl. Paint onto your face and leave for 20-30 minutes. Wash off with warm water and a soft non abrasive cloth.

Charcoal and bentonite clay help remove excess oil and skin impurities due to their detoxifying nature. They may also aid in refining your pores.

BALANCING MASK - if there is ever a time to save your green tea bags, this is it. You will need a piece of aloe Vera from your garden if you have some. Scrape out the gel part and mash with a fork. To this add a drop or two of tea tree oil, and the contents of a green tea bag. Stir well and paint onto your face and leave for 30 minutes. Aloe Vera has soothing properties, tea tree has antimicrobial benefits and the green tea is full of antioxidants.

FACE MIST:

GENTLE ROSE SPRITZ - you will need a small spray bottle for this. An empty facial toner spray bottle will do. Fill the bottle half way with fresh water and then add a few drops of Rose-hip oil, and a drop or two of lavender oil. Add some rose or lavender petals (fresh or dry) and shake and leave for a few hours to infuse.

Gently spray onto your face as a toner or a makeup freshener during the day. Ps: also a gorgeous room spray!

SALT & SCRUB:

BATH SOAK - to a bowl add two tablespoons of Epsom salts, 3 tablespoons of pink rock salt  (Himalayan salt) some dried flower petals and a few drops of essential oils like rose, lavender, vanilla or jasmine. You may like to play around with a few drops of each.

Stir well and pour into a little jar and keep in the bathroom for when you need a bath and wine. (Treat yourself) -keeps for a month.

CAFFEINATED BODY SCRUB - in a bowl mix a tablespoon of instant coffee granules with a tablespoon of brown sugar and a tablespoon melted coconut oil. Add in a little cacao powder if you are a chocoholic like myself!

Mix well and add more dry ingredients if needed. Store in an airtight jar and use as a gentle exfoliant.

STRAWBERRY SCRUB - in a bowl add five large strawberries, remove the tops and mash thoroughly. Add to this a tablespoon of fine ground castor sugar, a tablespoon of ground pink Himalayan salt and a teaspoon of melted coconut oil. Add a couple of drops of rose essential oil too if you like. Mix well and add more sugar and salt if needed. Store in an airtight container in the fridge and use within 3 days.

We hope you enjoy these recipes and some much needed TLC! Take care and be kind.
